"The Lord will save me, and we will sing to stringed instruments all the days of our life, at the house of the Lord." ~ Isaiah, 38:20
Music is a vital part of worship at Christchurch. The role of music grows out of our need to express ourselves in gratitude and praise to our Creator. Equal attention is paid to those elements of the liturgy that are led by the choir and those sung by the congregation.
Ancient and Contemporary
Music at Christchurch draws from centuries of compositional styles. Our Chancel Choir may sing a plainsong chant, Baroque anthems or music composed by contemporary composers.
The Christchurch Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is our adult choir made up of singers who love the art of choral music. They sing each Sunday at our morning worship service beginning at 9:30. The Chancel Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings at 5:30 in the choir room. The choir also leads in seasonal services throughout the church year.
Christchurch Praise Team Ministries
Our Christchurch Praise Groups consist of musicians who are interested in contemporary worship hymns and songs of praise. Our praise groups play during our Sunday morning Eucharist. They also lead us during special occasions, singing and complement social activities within our church.
Young musicians, Kindergarten through third grade enjoy Christchurch’s Celebration Choir. In a loving environment they begin singing songs with liturgical emphasis and hymns of praise. The Celebration Choir blesses our morning worship and those in assisted living during the choir year. With the addition of handbell ringers, they lift their voices in worship of Christ our Savior.
